Welcome.
The youth suicide rate in New Zealand is the worst in the developed world. Every 63 hours a young person in New Zealand takes their own life (under 24-years-old). For a population of 4.5 million in one of the most developed countries in the world this is shocking.
The Lifeline Art Auction and Cocktail Party is all about raising funds and building awareness to fight youth suicide in New Zealand. More than that, it is about starting a conversation and doing our bit to help.
We have been overwhelmed by the support for this auction. We have more than $150,000 in art and auction items donated. It is very clear this is a powerful cause that New Zealanders both at home and around the world are very passionate about.
On behalf of Lifeline and the Jake Millar Foundation, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the artists, our sponsors and everyone who has made this auction possible. Thank you from the bottom of our heart. This is possible only due to your generosity.
If you are interested in attending the auction in person in Takapuna, Auckland on Thursday, 15 November, please email emma@jakemillarfoundation.org (tickets are $250 per person).
Alternatively, we are accepting absentee bids for all pieces online. Online bidding will close at 5:00pm on Thursday, 15 November. We encourage you to bid generously in support of the cause.
Best wishes,
Jake Millar

“Lifeline Aotearoa is New Zealand’s leading national provider of 24/7 helpline counselling and crisis intervention line, receiving 10,000 calls and 13,000 texts a month. Our qualified staff and well trained volunteers support people who are in distress and have nobody to turn to; we know that talking saves lives! Our community helplines receive no government funding and yet we are supporting 10-12 people each day who are at high risk of suicide.
Lifeline supports the vision of a suicide free Aotearoa, where nobody is left without someone to turn to in those overwhelming moments. Your support can assist us to be there – the cost of a call is $25, the cost to train a volunteer is $745.
On behalf of Lifeline, we would like to express a very special thank you to all the amazing artists that have very kindly donated their art for this event, the sponsors and the hosts.”
